Statement.

I want to become an architect to be able to create feelings and memories for others. I would say that surrealism is a big inspiration for me because anything is possible to make and that is my motto. I like to think outside the box and I would call myself dynamic.

I am anxious to learn and develop my techniques and I believe that I can do this as a student at MSA. I believe that as your student I can contribute with a new way of thinking, a fresh mix of knowledge and ideas from the new generation. I want to study architecture and my aim is to continue it as a profession. At MSA I will get the chance to develop a personal style along side your renowned course when I am gaining invaluable knowledge from the lectures, workshops and former students. I like how your programme is constructed so that you gain knowledge in more than one way and I think your programme will provide me with a perfect ground base to stand on when I become an architect in the future.

A place I would like to visit is Dubai, which has an amazing architectural style that truly appeals to me. The design team ONL, has created a lot of different designs but one that I specifically like is the flyotel, in no less then Dubai. It is almost surrealistic in design but they took their dream and made it into reality. It is a hotel, with a body shaped like a bird, ready to fly. They wanted to create the feeling of flying and also represent that people in a hotel are currently traveling. I like their whole idea and I think architecture is more then just the building, it is the whole concept of creating. From initial idea to finial result, every part is an important process and details do make a difference.

Recently I have been able to visit the two cathedrals in Liverpool. They show a spectacular side of true architecture in two completely different ways. I have also recently been in Berlin, where I found it really strict and clean, in comparison, Rome were you can tell there is a whole different style in it’s almost ancient design. It is absolutely stunning and the fact that it is all hand made makes it even more incredible. When I came back from my trip to Rome I took the opportunity to develop within the roman style in art class and the more I have learned the more interest I have gained. I can see a clear theme throughout time and that the Romans have been a true inspiration throughout decades.

TOFEL test

This is my TOEFL test certificate from December 2012

Colloseum

I started to draw the Colosseum during my school trip to Rome, funded by the European Council. I’ve used a technique called crosshatching, used by among others Michelangelo.

Photographs

Liverpool one

The photographs are of architectural spaces the really inspires me. One is a neat architectural feature built into a large city centre complex (Liverpool one) the other is a building that I like because of it’s grace, location and details that speaks for themselves

Perspective drawing

I drew this imaginary apartment out of two reasons: one, it reflects me, my style and personality. And two, it reflects all that architecture stands for; venustas, firmitas and utilitas, the latin words for beauty, strength and usefulness. It’s a simple but very useful one bedroom apartment. It’s easy to change the style with colours and textiles which makes it suitable for anyone. With a modern kitchen, combined with living room, a loft bed with a wardrobe underneath the stairs, I would say it is a typical first apartment or adapted for students with small areas and many things.

Animals

Animals has a unique look and structure which I've tried to capture with this free hand drawing of my neighbors cat.

Surrealism

Here is an interpretation of surrealism which is an art form I take inspiration from.
